New Build & Extensions (Commercial)

WHL Projects provides turnkey construction and extension services for commercial, industrial and public-sector clients across the UK. Whether constructing a new facility or expanding an existing building, our focus is on robust planning, engineering excellence, and high-quality finishes that meet specification and compliance requirements.

Our scope

We deliver full principal-contractor packages including:

Steel and reinforced-concrete structural frames
Envelope and roofing systems (cladding, curtain walling, render and insulation)
Full M&E coordination and installation
Internal fit-out, joinery and finishing trades
External works, drainage and landscaping
Site infrastructure, services connections and utilities coordination

Our team works closely with architects, consultants and client stakeholders from concept to completion. We handle both design-and-build and traditionally tendered contracts, applying value-engineering principles to achieve the best performance, cost and programme outcomes.

Engineering and buildability

Early technical input defines successful new-build projects. WHL Projects reviews structural solutions for practicality, sequencing and material efficiency. Our engineers evaluate load paths, foundation design and frame connections to ensure cost-effective buildability without compromising integrity.

Extensions are particularly demanding — tying into existing buildings, matching floor levels and maintaining live operations. We plan isolations, temporary weathering and service diversions to keep facilities operational while minimising risk.

Quality and compliance

Every new-build and extension is constructed to the latest Building Regulations and relevant British Standards. We manage fire-safety, acoustic and thermal performance from the outset, using approved products and tested systems that satisfy all approved Documents.

WHL Projects is a member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), demonstrating our commitment to professional management and continuous improvement. Technical oversight and verification are provided through our sister company, WHL Surveying & Engineering, regulated by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE).

Safety and environment

We plan construction around logistics, access and environmental control. Site waste is segregated and recycled, and materials are sourced responsibly. All lifting and plant operations are managed by qualified Appointed Persons, and our workforce is trained for safe working at height, confined spaces and hot works.

Noise, dust and traffic management plans are implemented from day one to protect neighbours and site users.

Materials and systems

WHL Projects has extensive experience with major envelope and structural systems including:

Structural steel and RC frames – fabricated and erected to BS EN 1090
Cladding and roofing – composite, standing seam, rainscreen and built-up systems
Glazing and façades – aluminium and curtain wall assemblies tested to BS EN 13830
Mechanical and electrical systems – designed for energy efficiency and ease of maintenance

All works are monitored through our internal quality-check process, including photographic progress reporting and manufacturer inspections where warranties are issued.
